A Reintroduction of Sorts
Sometimes life doesn’t lead you where you planned…
Sometimes it leads you exactly where you’re meant to be.
Over a decade ago, I embarked on a journey I never expected. Health challenges forced me to slow down and truly look at how I was living — what I was eating, what I was putting on my skin, and what I was filling our home with.
That season changed me.
It reshaped my priorities, deepened my faith, and ultimately led me to my husband — a man whose heart for simple living, hard work, and family aligned so naturally with my own. Together, we began building a life rooted in intention.
Conversations about gut health, food sensitivities, clean ingredients, and low-tox living became part of everyday life. We realized true wellness isn’t just about food — it’s about creating a home and lifestyle that supports the mind, body, and soul.
That’s where the seeds of The Rustic Sage Farmstead were first planted — quietly, years before the dream ever came to light. Step by step, season by season, our path led us here.
The name itself holds deep meaning for us.
“Rustic” represents the simple, unpolished beauty of country life — hard work, dirt roads, garden harvests, and trusting the process even when it feels slow.
“Sage” represents both healing and wisdom — the old traditions, natural remedies, and lessons learned through seasons of growth.
We believe in returning to what is real.
What is nourishing.
What is intentional.
Our tallow is locally sourced, honoring the animal fully and reducing waste — a practice rooted in respect for the land and the life it provides. Every jar is handcrafted in small batches in our home, much like generations before us cared for their families.
But this dream was never meant to be carried alone.
It has always been a family effort.
Nico, my husband, is a railroader — the steady backbone of our family and this business. He’s the one whipping, bottling, labeling, and perfecting every product. He’s also the one who naturally connects with people at markets and helps bring our vision to life. And truthfully… he’s also the reason we have chickens. 😉
I’m Elizabeth, wife, mom, nurse, recipe creator, and the face you’ll most often see at markets. I’m the planner, organizer, and storyteller behind the scenes — because this isn’t just skincare to us… it’s a lifestyle we deeply believe in.
Our three children are part of this journey too.
AnnDre’a, Lydia, and little Jackson each play their role — helping at markets, learning the value of hard work, and reminding us daily why we continue to grow and do better.
In fact, we started this tallow venture when Jackson was just one month old, often wrapped close to me while we crafted our very first small batches in our kitchen. Those days were messy and exhausting — but also incredibly meaningful. They reminded us why we chose this life… to be present, to build something together, and to create a home centered on purpose and simplicity.
These days you’ll find us running between dance, gymnastics, garden chores, chicken tending, camping trips, and big homestead dreams.
Life is loud. Messy. Busy. Beautiful.
Our inspiration echoes an old vision once called “three acres and a cow” — the belief that families can live sustainably, work the land with dignity, and find deep contentment in simple, meaningful living.
The Rustic Sage Farmstead is not just a business.
It’s our story.
It’s our healing.
It’s our faith.
It’s our family.
And truly… we are so grateful you are here supporting this dream. 🤍🌿
If you’ve been part of our journey — whether you’ve purchased a jar, shared a post, stopped by a market, or simply followed along — thank you.
